Long boxer briefs are simply more comfortable
Boxer briefs are called long boxer briefs when the legs are longer than the standard legs. However, boxer briefs with shorter legs are not called short boxer briefs. We don't call them “shorts” either, although that would make sense, but trunks. Long boxer shorts are popular in the Netherlands, but in France it is precisely the trunks that the men want. Dutch men simply find boxer shorts with long legs the most comfortable. And why is that?
Long boxer briefs for men
Boxer shorts with long legs for men are more popular because generally, the legs are less likely to ride up. That is, if the legs of the boxer shorts are not too wide at the bottom. And men find it very annoying if the legs ride up. That's because the fabric of boxer shorts more or less starts to collect in your groin. Or it becomes a bump on your leg. And then you are constantly pulling it down, because you can feel it.
Boxer briefs with long legs have fewer problems with this because the fabric sits lower on your legs and is, therefore, less likely to ride up. The legs still has to go over the wider part of your leg, your thigh. And that is simply not as easy with boxer briefs with long legs, because they taper at the bottom. Your leg narrows below your thigh towards your knee. Self-explanatory, we think.
What length are our boxer briefs?
Long boxer briefs for men have legs that extend slightly beyond mid-thigh, so where your leg starts to narrow. From that length we call them boxer briefs with a long leg. The legs of long boxer briefs can reach all the way to the knee, you often see this in sports boxer shorts. That is really long and those boxer briefs are often tight around your legs. Great for sports apparently, but whether it is really comfortable to walk around in all day, we're not too sure. We think that is too long for boxer briefs with a long leg. You can overdo it.
The days of (really) long underwear for men are long gone. You know, those "charming" long white underpants down to your ankle. Better known as long johns for men. Perhaps for a skiing holiday, but not for everyday use. Unless you are a person that easily feels the cold, of course.
