Mellowood® is a unique, durable, and sustainable fabric and Undiemeister® has the exclusive licence for it. You see, we thought there was room for improvement. This is how the love marriage between TENCEL™ and certified organic cotton Mellowood® came about. Mellowood® is therefore only and exclusively available at Undiemeister. The advantages are premium quality and maximum durability, which nothing else can match.
Premium quality
Mellowood® is soft as silk, with rapid moisture absorption and quick-drying, provides maximum ventilation, is anti-bacterial, does not pill or shrink, and retains its beautiful colour even after washing. Organic cotton gives Mellowood® its firmness. Soft and robust makes the most beautiful underwear. We understand that it is difficult to compare materials. Comparison with bamboo
We understand that bamboo is often compared with Mellowood®, but above you can see that this new fabric is the next step after bamboo in terms of both quality and sustainability.
Why is Mellowood® maximally sustainable?
As mentioned, Mellowood is a combination between TENCEL™ and organic cotton. TENCEL™ is made by the Austrian company LENZING™, a worldwide forerunner in sustainable textile production. TENCEL™ is available in Modal and Lyocell variants. Undiemeister starts with TENCEL™ Modal, where 95% of the resources used to make the fibres are recycled. Mellowood® consists of 68% TENCEL™ (from beechwood), 28% Organic cotton and 4% Elastane.
A gigantic step in sustainability, especially if you compare this with cotton or bamboo viscose. For Lyocell, recycling even goes upto 100%. Production of all TENCEL™ fibres (from cellulose) saves maximum water and energy and is CO2 neutral. The raw materials of the natural fibres (beechwood for Modal and eucalyptus wood for Lyocell) come from sustainably managed nurseries and forests. The fibres are biodegradable and very easy to dye (minimal environmental impact). Organic cotton is grown without agricultural toxins.
LENZING™ has laboratory tested and certified the unique blend of Mellowood®. Mellowood® is also registered as a trademark. This prevents fabrics that are not sustainably produced, or of a lower quality, from being presented as the original. Nobody wants fake.
Patent on the most sustainable fabric
Mellowood® is so unique that it was also investigated whether it was possible to patent the unique blend. The patent attorneys were unanimously in favour and we filed the patent application on Mellowood. Patent Approved!
