Just underwear?

As a leading brand of sustainable, timeless and premium underwear for men, Undiemeister® have a lot of expertise in-house. That sounds rather immodest, but after more than 10 years of experience, we are comfortable to come straight out with it. But the question we have been asking ourselves for a long time is whether we should continue to focus exclusively on underwear. After all, wouldn't it be a shame not to apply all this expertise in fabrics, sizing and optimal finishing to other garments? This question really appealed to our conscience. Because men's underwear is “our thing”, if you like. And isn't the phrase “Stick to what you know?”.

Undiemeister® customers want more

But more and more customers asked whether we would also make casual T-shirts, because we already made T-shirts as undershirts. So the quality of our T-shirts could also be worn in summer. Because in summer you don't often wear an undershirt under your summer T-shirt. And you'll miss that comfortable feeling. You'd have to wait until the temperature starts to drop again.

Fabric for casual T-shirts

Undiemeister® were sensitive to all requests, especially since we have often struggled with this question ourselves, and it started to feel rather like a "missed opportunity". And despite the fact that this was a step away from underwear, it made sense. But we didn't simply want to offer a casual T-shirt because we set the bar high. The process started with a search for the very best fabric, which needed to be slightly thicker than the T-shirts we offer as undergarments. And the fabric also had to have the same properties as our customers are used to from us, and be as sustainable as possible. Once again, that's easier said than done, but we did it. Also thanks to our suppliers, who helped us find the best solution.

Sizing and finish of Undiemeister® casual T-shirts

Casual T-shirts are worn differently to undershirts, which must closely follow the body's contours because other clothes are worn on top. A casual summer T-shirt, for example, must have a looser fit around the body (Regular Fit). You don't want the contours of the body hugged too tightly. This is not as comfortable in warmer weather and restricts movement, due to the slightly thicker fabric. In addition, we found that many summer T-shirts were on the short side and that just doesn't look as good. After all, no one needs to see a bare stomach or back, and you wouldn't want to reveal all either.

And finally: the Undiemeister logo

So, if you're going to create outerwear, what do you do with your logo? Because you're going to have to make it visible somehow. We had a lot of discussions about this. We did not want a logo to be too visible, because it simply doesn't look smart. That wouldn't be suitable for premium outerwear. Premium should, in our opinion, always be understated. Not everyone needs to see what you're wearing from a distance. Just as a Bentley is more modest, more subtle, than a Rolls-Royce. But even a layman can spot its class.

On the other hand, completely invisible is not convenient either, because you do want to show you are wearing a real Undiemeister®. So we decided on “tone sur tone”. The logo on the chest in the same colour of the T-shirt, in a slightly different shade. Modest and subtle. Or rather: understated. And therefore unmistakably premium. And the famous orange vertical Undiemeister® logo that you know from our T-shirts? That, too, comes in a slightly adjusted form, so you can be sure you are pulling the right casual T-shirt from your wardrobe!
