We have written about this many times, more and more of our customers are asking us to also make outerwear. Because they are pleasantly surprised by our sizing and the quality of the finishes and fabrics. A wonderful compliment, of course, but which outerwear suits us best? Because jackets and trousers, for example, are not exactly "up our street".
Swimming trunks are a great step
Swimming trunks are outerwear, but you wear them directly on the skin like underwear. So this was a no-brainer. And the design and production process is practically the same. Except for the fabric, of course, because swimming trunks should not absorb water and need to dry quickly. But apart from that, it is important that it fits perfectly and is comfortable to wear. Swimming means moving, so the fit is adjusted accordingly.
The extras of our swimming trunks are different from our boxer shorts
The same comfort, but a different use. Side pockets, for example, are not something you need in your underwear. And an extra lockable pocket for your valuables, such as a credit card or debit card. It's important to keep these safe when swimming. Liner is also a typical feature for swimwear. And a back pocket is handy for extra stuff. At first glance there are many differences, but it's not really that complex.
The common denominators: stylish and durable
A stylish finish, stylish colours, stylish designs. And sustainable, each in its own way. The boxer shorts are made of Mellowood®, made from sustainable raw materials and produced sustainably. For swimming trunks, we chose a different approach, with the same end result: recycling. No new polyesters are made, but we reuse what is already available. So no new production process, no new raw materials. Moreover, recycling removes substances from the environment.
In short, from boxer shorts to swimming trunks is a great, important and at the same time small step.
