The certificates of Undiemeister®
As you know, sustainability is of paramount importance at Undiemeister®. Yet we do not show the logos that apply to our articles on our products or on our packaging. What’s that about?
Everything handmade and made to measure
All Undiemeister® articles are made to our specifications. We determine the design and the fabric to be used. So these fabrics are not made by us but by third parties. Our products are then assembled from the fabric in our workshop. This means that our suppliers in particular are certified on sustainability and working conditions. This even goes a step further, because each delivery to us is individually checked (examination and analysis of the materials used) and certified.
Our certificates
Certification is done with the threads. For example, our fabric supplier receives a license number per order from LENZING™ which we, as the client, must use each time to apply for our own license based on the number of articles and the specified quantity of fabric. The TENCEL™ brand may not be used without that product license. In fact, you shouldn’t even mention that you’re using TENCEL™. This is all done to prevent counterfeiting, by manufacturers who do not take sustainability very seriously, in order to make the threads and fabrics cheaper.
On the basis of that product license we receive a certificate from LENZING™ for the specific articles we have made. For the organic cotton we also receive a (very extensive) certificate based on OCS (Organic Content Standard) concerning the use of the organic cotton and the “blend”, i.e. the composition with the TENCEL™ threads. Completely specified by the number of kilos and the number of bales (all numbered) in which the fabric is located.
The use of the Logo's
The certificates are all in our possession, including the certificates and the audit report that our manufacturers have in relation to the controls on working conditions (BSCI or Business Social Compliance Initiative). Because of the sensitive information contained in the certificates and reports, such as personal and address details, we do not publish them. We also do not use the logos in our products, but that has more to do with the fact that we consider these logos to be detrimental to the minimalist design of Undiemeister’s® packaging and prints.
