Socks under a suit
To wear socks or not to wear socks under a suit, that's the question
We shouldn't say it really, but you may be familiar with the hipster type. Bare feet in Italian loafers and the trouser legs high enough to show everyone. Nice long hair, but definitely no mullet. And of course, those bare feet; rain or shine. Not when it's freezing, obviously. That's the time to wear some other flashy shoes.
We're not exactly fans of bare ankles under a suit
Yes, maybe baring your ankles is a fantastic fashion statement, but it's just not functional. We can imagine you getting out of your Ferrari like that on Ibiza to pop over to the hip beach bar for a fancy lunch in the sunshine. But in the Netherlands, the trend of “no socks under a suit” seems a bit forced. And it's not as good for your feet. Think of the perspiration and the rubbing in your shoes (although we understand those loafers would be made of the finest and softest leather, of course).
We like socks under a suit
Socks under a suit look smart. But beware, there are rules here too! For example, it's "not done" to show your bare leg when you cross your legs and your trouser leg rides up. Off to a good start, but that's really a no no. It looks a bit shabby, the sight of a bit of pale skin sticking out above your socks. So, make sure that your socks are long enough, like the socks you buy from Undiemeister®. They all have sufficient length to prevent that problem.
What is the best colour for socks under a suit?
That depends entirely on the colour of your suit, but you can't go worng with black socks. A tad boring but always right, is what you could call it. Grey socks and nice dark blue socks are also an excellent choice and particularly well suited to wear under jeans. Fancy socks with busy designs were trendy for a while, like stripes, checks, dots, etc. But if you opt for stylish, keep it simple: plain, with one exception to show people you know how to make the right choices: the Undiemeister® logo. Good luck!
