Thermoregulation

Mellowood® is a fabric that regulates temperature. But what does that mean in practice? Thermoregulation has a function at high or low temperatures, because regulation or control of temperature only makes sense if it provides a pleasant temperature.

Thermoregulation, where something that is warm becomes even hotter or retains the heat, or something that is cold becomes even colder or retains the cold, can be useful. Just think of a thermos flask, which should keep a hot drink warm or a cold drink cold. But that involves isolation rather than regulation.

Mellowood® maintains the temperature

In the case of Mellowood®, thermoregulation means that a pleasant temperature is maintained as much as possible. So when it gets hot, the heat is not retained, but rather dissipated. When it is cold, ithe cold is compensated with extra warmth, for example by retaining body heat.

In the case of underwear or socks, thermoregulation often means that the heat is dissipated, and wearing the underwear or socks remains comfortable. Just look at boxer shorts. Movement can quickly cause heat, which is not pleasant. If the extra heat is then dissipated, because Mellowood® fabric has ventilating properties, you'll never even realise you are wearing boxer shorts. Because if you could really feel you are wearing boxer shorts, it would be at the expense of your comfort.
