Undiemeisters way to celebrate Black Friday
We have already written an extensive blog about Black Friday. Where the phenomenon comes from and that in the Netherlands there is really no reason at all to celebrate a special sales day here as well. Black Friday is an American and Canadian event, with a link to Thanks Giving. If you want to know more about its origins, you can read more about it at one of our other blogs.
Not fundamentally opposed to discounts
Of course, Undiemeister could have gone along with the spectacle. Giving discounts just to make as many sales as possible. Not that we are against discounts in principle, see for example our Meisterstaffel. There you can save up to 40% on your purchases if you order more. But there is a good reason for that. Because we save costs with larger orders, but more importantly, with larger orders we save quite a bit on CO2. Less transport movements, less packing material, etc. But we don't see those reasons with Black Friday, just the opposite.
Black Friday, but in reverse
So then we thought that maybe it could be different and that our customers would enjoy participating in it. And that turned out to be the case. Because instead of giving discounts, with every order, on behalf of our customers, we gave 3 pairs of socks to the homeless shelter of the Salvation Army. Just like we did last year, when Undiemeister donated a pair of boxer shorts to the homeless shelter, with every order. Even then, "Black Friday Reversed" was a resounding success and already tasted like more.
Boxes of Undiemeister socks to those in dire need
Of course, socks are important for everyone, especially in cold weather. But if you have neither a roof over your head nor a washing machine for much of the time, socks are very welcome. Therefore, in 2022, after the Black Friday action of November 2021 ends (moreover, due to success at the time, it was also extended), thousands of socks will again go towards the army. Hopefully, it will help.
