Intellectual Property (IP) not on the agenda of many entrepreneurs.
Proper protection of IP is crucial for the Dutch economy. Unfortunately, this topic is hardly on the agenda of many entrepreneurs. Understandable, as they hold many signs in the air. That is why the government started the campaign to bring IP to the attention of entrepreneurs and to help them get started with IP protection. Because Undiemeister did record the (worldwide) registration and protection of its trademarks and products from the start, the ministry asked Undiemeister to share those experiences. And we were happy to do so, in a roundtable discussion with, among others, State Secretary Ms. Mona Keijzer.
Why is the protection of Intellectual Property so important?
IP (in full: Intellectual Property Law, abbreviated: IP) is the right that you own on something that you or your company have invented or developed. Or had it invented or developed. And that development of new brands, products, concepts, designs, etc. often takes a lot of time, money and energy. If those are unique, then those are yours. Your property. But that ownership is of little use if anyone can use it. Why would people buy your products and not someone else's? Because you were the one who created the brand and put it on the map, it is important that you can recoup those investments. That won't work if others take advantage of your efforts. That is why protection is needed.
Because of the Internet, IP protection is now more important than ever.
The Internet has brought much to the world and to consumers. On the other hand, because of the Internet, the whole world has now also become your competitor. Because anyone can order anything at any time, anywhere in the world. Not only that, but the spread of new products, concepts and ideas is going around the world like wildfire. So the chances of being imitated are now greater than ever. And let's be clear, for many companies and individuals, copying what others have come up with is simply a business model. You can get angry about that, but it is the way it is. That is why it is much better to focus your energy on properly protecting (and guarding) what is yours. And should remain yours.

On the site of "IE Goed Idee" entrepreneurs can get started in an accessible way with the necessary protection. Moreover, the investments (because you can't really call them costs) are clear. Everything can be found in one place as much as possible, moreover with support. Answers to most questions about IP can be found there, in a clear "step by step" manner.
