Undiemeister adds PostNL pickup points
Share
It's finally here, PostNL pickup points have been added to our delivery options. Undiemeister is fully focused on sustainability and CO2 reduction. To further validate this, we are working daily to improve our operations. Customized packaging was a previous step that allows us to reduce the unnecessary transportation of "air." Now we can have our transporters drive fewer miles by using pickup points.
Fewer transport movements
The fewer transport movements, the better it is for the environment. Especially in this day and age, where online store sales are increasing hand over fist and so are the number of deliveries, it is important to keep "the vans" driving as little as possible whenever possible. Every transport movement is extra CO2 and if that can be reduced that is profit.
Conveniently close to our customers
This is why we have recently given our customers the option of having orders delivered to PostNL pick-up points near them. If more customers do so, including for orders from webshops other than Undiemeister, the delivery driver will bring all packages to one point at once. At that collection point, often a place where people come regularly anyway, for example for daily shopping, everyone can then pick up their packages. This is convenient and saves a lot of unnecessary traffic and is therefore better for the environment. After all, the customer was going that way anyway. And if not, our customers often walk or bike.
Difficult implementation of the PostNL collection points
In itself we are late to this, you might say, if you look at our sustainable mission. But it just depends on how you look at it (as with so many things actually). In fact, we introduced the option of pickup in our first year, so it's not that late. On top of that, offering the takeout option to customers is not something you just do overnight. It sounds simple, but it is anything but.
At the "back end" of the business, this is a big deal because it has consequences for the logistics process. This means complicated software, which has to connect with our logistics service provider and then also have to be properly received by PostNL, to prevent the packages from being delivered to places that are not at all close to our customers' homes.
Extensive testing
Anyway, it takes some doing and once it is set up, it runs. Of course after extensive testing, because our service level to our customers remains as high as ever, so we always want to be sure that the delivery continues to go well. Our tip: make use of the pick-up points and decide yourself when you pick up your package. Another advantage: you no longer have to stay home for it and in your absence you don't burden your neighbors either.
