Gratis boxershorts voor dak- en thuislozen is een gigantisch succes! - Undiemeister

Free boxer shorts for homeless people is a huge success!

The action with the free boxer shorts for the homeless has been enormously successful. The numbers were many times higher than expected but "A man a man a word a word", that's how real meisters do it. Read more about our successful campaign and more here!

Fooled

Many declared us crazy when we decided to change Black Friday from what we call a "buying frenzy" (less positive: grabbing frenzy) to a time when our customers had the opportunity to do something good at the same time as they ordered from Undiemeister. Namely, an extra pair of boxer shorts with every order for the homeless.

Action got a little out of hand....

And why were we called crazy? Because we have been working with Undiemeister for a relatively short time and such an action can be quite expensive. Especially if you announce it on TV, which we did. And in newspapers. And we knew it, because the campaign brought in over 100,000 euros worth of boxer shorts for the homeless. Well, a bit more than we had expected.

The knife cuts both ways

And at the same time, let's not pretend that Undiemeister is "holier than the pope." Because we are not. Because the action has also brought us a lot of positive publicity, so in that sense the knife cuts both ways. And that's good, because doing something once in a while for people who need it does, in our opinion, fit our philosophy. Rather, with being a Meister. Philosophically, you could put it under the Latin maxim "Noblesse Oblige," or Nobility Oblige. This means that if you are doing well, you actually have a moral obligation to give something back to those less fortunate.

Clean and new underwear very welcome

We chose the homeless group because these are the very people for whom clean and new underwear is especially important. Yes, we know, clean and new underwear is important for everyone, but not for everyone as a matter of course. Let's put it this way.

Our challenge

Right at the time when we ourselves had challenges regarding our supplies, the transfer of the underwear (the boxer shorts) was planned. It was "all hands on deck" for us to be able to supply our own customers with boxer shorts, because due to the pandemic the factories cannot run full-time and many shipments are/were cancelled each time and especially at the last minute. Still, we chose to start the handover already, because promised is promised.

The handover of the first boxes of boxer shorts

The first boxes of boxer shorts for the homeless were handed over first to the Nico Adriaans foundation in Rotterdam, then to The Salvation Army in Amsterdam, which takes care of the national distribution for The Salvation Army, and then once again to The Salvation Army in Utrecht, the city of Undiemeister's home base.

Lots of happy faces from the homeless, an absolute win/win as far as we are concerned.
